SHRINE'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY (1976-2006)

On February 14, 2006, the Philippine National Shrine of The Sacred Heart celebrated it's 30th anniversary (1976-2006). In thanksgiving to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for this momentous and joyous event, Rev. Monsignor J. Clemente F. Ignacio, NSSH Rector and Parish Priest dedicates a special prayer for priests who have selflessly devoted their lives in proclaiming the Word of God in their ministerial work.

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS

Lord Jesus,

At Gethsemani, You specially prayed for Your disciples.
We wish to join You in praying for our priests.

Lord, they belong to You and You chose them.
You sent them into the world, but they do not belong
to the world, as you do not.
Protect them Lord and guard them with Your name.

You gave them Your word.
May they cherish it as they proclaim this to the world.
Consecrate them in Your truth.
May they always remember that
You have consecrated Yourself
for their sakes
that they may be consecrated in truth.

Give them the strength to face
the trials and difficulties of their ministry.

Give them the courage to fulfill their mission
of proclaiming Your Kingdom
here on earth.
In doing this, may they always be one with the Church.

Lord, we know You love them.
Increase their love for You.
May this love be their absolute and final way
in all that they do.

Assured always of Your mercy, may they stay
in love with You
and be deepened in this love
by their imitation of Your way

of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience.

Bless their prayers. May they encounter You deeply in those
silent moments and see Your Holy Will, that they may
minister to us with greater love and devotion.

And as they confirm their lives and celebrate Your suffering,
death and resurrection, especially in the Eucharist, assure
them always of Your never ending hope and consolation.

We ask this of You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

REV. MSGR. J. CLEMENTE F. IGNACIO
Rector / Parish Priest
National Shrine of the Sacred Heart
