The
traditional 9-day Novena of the Sacred Heart to usher in the
Festivities of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart will begin on Wednesday May 29 to June 6, 2013. There will
be two Novena Masses to be held daily; one at 12:15 noon and another at 6:00 in the
evening.
The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart will be on June 7, 2013, a First Friday. Theme of this year's celebration will be "Tanggapin ang Grasya" ("Receive the Grace").
Two
Cardinals - His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle will preside on
the Feast Day June 7 at the 6:00 PM evening Mass while His Eminence
Cardinal Emeritus Gaudencio Rosales will officiate the last of the
Novena Masses at 6:00 PM on June 6, 2013.
Some
of the invited Church dignitaries include: The Most Reverend Mylo
Hubert C. Vergara, DD; Bishop of Pasig will open the Novena Mass series
on Wednesday, May 29, 2012 at 12:15 noon. The Most Reverend Bernardino
Cortez, DD; Auxiliary Bishop of Manila on May 31, at 12:15 noon; while
the Most Reverend Broderick Pabillio, DD; Auxiliary Bishop of Manila
will be the Mass Presider at the 12:00 NN Feast Day Mass on June 7.
There
will be an inspirational recollection talk at 10:00 AM on June 1, with the Traditional
Procession on June 6, eve of the Fiesta; as well as Imposition of
Sacred Heart Scapulars at 9:30 AM on June 7 Feast Day.
Among
the invited special sponsors for the feast days are the Apostleship of
Prayer, Catholic Women's League, CWL Manila and Mother Butlers Guild, the Catholic Charismatic Group of the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart and other trans-parochial organizations. As in the past celebrations, the Makati
City government and respective Barangay Communities as well as various business companies and
schools are Novena-Mass active sponsors.
Adding
grace to the festivities is the declaration of the National Shrine of
the Sacred Heart as a Pilgrim Church in this Year of the Faith. A visit
to the Shrine together with availing of Confession and Holy Communion
including prayers for Our Holy Father of an Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and the Creed, will merit you a Plenary Indulgence; which can then be applied to a
loved one.
